Our first wedding anniversary

So our first wedding anniversary is fast approaching which is so hard to believe because it doesn’t seem that long ago that I was getting nervously excited for our big day! I had wedding blues big time after the honeymoon because I was so sad it was all over! Once that passed though I soon learned to just enjoy having the memories to look back on and remember our amazing day.
So for our first anniversary we knew we wanted to do something special, we toyed with ideas of staying at a spa for the weekend, having a city break, staying somewhere closer to home and eating somewhere fancy but couldn’t quite decide until I started my walking club.
Since I started walking with the group once a week and am now planning our trip to the Lake District next year I knew I wanted to try and walk up some hills before then and once I started looking at the closest hills to us, where we live in Cambridgeshire is very flat, I knew we would have to travel.
So Scott suggested we combine a walking holiday with our wedding anniversary and the idea for our trip to the Peak District was born! We have decided to go for just two nights over our anniversary weekend and in this time will fit in some walking, exploring, hopefully a nice little anniversary dinner and fingers crossed some good weather!
We are staying at the Spring View b&b in Dove Holes, it has great reviews and looks the perfect place to make our base, plus they are very welcoming to dogs even offering to provide towels, treats and dog shampoo!
During our trip we plan to climb Mam Tor, this will be our 2nd Tor this year after Hay Tor in Devon in March. It’s a 2 hour walk to the summit and the views look spectacular! As far as I can see it’s a flat path so it should be a nice walk and good to get us used to being a bit higher!

We also want to explore the caves while we are there, there are several caves including Blue John Cavern and Peak Cavern all look very exciting and something completely different to what we have around here.

All in all I’m really excited for our weekend in July and can’t wait to start planning some more!
