Burghley horse trials- our third year!

Today we visited Burghley Horse Trials for the 3rd year in a row. We love this place, T has ridden since she was 5, she is now coming up for 9, and so is in heaven with the shops and horses everywhere. As for the adults we love watching the show jumping, treating T to some new bits for riding and having a picnic by the car at lunch time.

Today the weather did not let us down and it was beautiful.

We arrived just after 8am and left about 4pm so it is a long day but there is so much to see and do there it really is such a great day.

The highlight of the day had to be this;

T loves reading, and horses, so reading books about horses is going to be a winner. Clare Balding just happens to have written 2 books for children involving a race horse called Noble Warrior and his 10 year old owner Charlie. T has both these books and loves them so I said just pop it in your bag along with a pen incase we see Clare Balding today as she is presenting the final, we can get her to sign the book for you.

Now I knew several people that were going to the horse trials today, we didn’t see one of them, BUT in a crowd of thousands who did I spot but Clare Balding!!

I called her name like I knew her, announced my daughter loves her books and actually brought one for her to sign and she was thrilled to sign it and pose for a picture!

T was so happy 😁

Needless to say we read some of that very book before bed tonight and she has gone to bed a very happy girl.

I’m sad the last fun day before school goes back is over but glad it was so fantastic.

Thanks for reading

Lou x
